在市場等待週二歐元區通膨數據公佈之際，歐元兌美元於1.07 價位整固。 歐洲央行(ECB)的政策方向將受物價水準左右。 德國做為歐洲最大經濟體，4月全國消費者物價指數（CPI）維持在2.2% 不變，略低於預期的2.3%。 然而，歐盟調合通膨統計自3月的三年低點2.3% 微升至2.4%。 受食品和天然氣價格拉抬，西班牙通膨率也升至3.3%。 另外，德國和西班牙的核心通膨觀察到放緩至多年來的新低，主因是服務業價格不再高漲。 

在物價壓力減弱和經濟活動疲軟的跡象下，歐洲央行暗示在 6 月開始減息的可能。 相反地，美國聯準會不太可能在 9 月之前實施任何寬鬆手段。
