美国4月生产者物价指数（PPI）月增0.5%，与3月下降0.1%（该值经下修）相比出现显著逆转。 4月涨幅超乎市场预期的0.3%。  

服务价格出现自去年7月以来的最大涨势，继前值修正为-0.1%后，劲扬0.6%。 资产管理费用飙升3.9%是助涨主因。 机械和设备、批发贸易、住房地产服务、汽车零售、饭店和货运皆出现价格上涨。 商品价格升0.4%，而3月是下滑0.2%，主要是受到油价涨5.4%的拉抬。 柴油、鸡蛋、电力、有色金属价格都变高。 值得注意的是，排除高波动性项目的核心生产者价格（Core PPI）上涨0.5%，明显超过预估的0.2%。  

论年环比，4月生产者物价指数上涨2.2%，创12个月新高，符合市场预期。 剔除波动较大的食品和能源品项，4月核心生产者物价指数上涨2.4%，亦符合市场预期。 其前值从2.4%下调至2.1%。 

在银行家协会活动中，美联储主席鲍威尔承认第一季在抑制通胀方面缺乏进展，他表示：“我不会称之为过热，仅是忧喜参半。”  

鲍威尔于新数据提出评论，即适当的做法是”政策维持在当前利率水准的时间会比想像的还长”。 不过，他重申美联储预计不会进一步升息。  

报告发布后，美元指数落至105水平。 市场将注意力转向明天发表的消费者物价指数（CPI）。 交易员压注美联储降息时程恢复到 PPI 发布前，9月降息概率约为65%，11月降息机率为78%。
